Each year, several charities use the Hospital Hill Run as a fundraiser event for their organizations. Charities often provide their participants with training tips, prizes and activities in addition to everything other Hospital Hill Run participants receive. Girls on the Run is a nonprofit character-development program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. The program combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons in self-esteem, nutrition, relationships and community service. It is caused by defective blood vessels in the brain, lungs, liver, and intestines, and typically begins with nosebleeds during childhood.
