TRAFFIC DELAY & ROAD CLOSURE EVENT NOTIFICATION

On Saturday, June 4, 2011, there may be road closures in your area. Be Aware. Plan Ahead.

The 38th annual Hospital Hill Run will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011. We are grateful for the support you've shown us in the past, and we hope the following information will help the day of the event go as smoothly as possible for you. If you are a business owner, we encourage you to review the course map and to coordinate your delivery services around the event and road closures.

Event Information: The half marathon, 10K and UMKC School of Medicine 5K will host 7,500 athletes from all over the United States. The race features a view of the Sprint Center, a run through the beautiful Brookside neighborhood, a tour of the Country Club Plaza and the challenge of those famous hills that give the Hospital Hill Run its name. The event starts and finishes at Crown Center, located at Pershing Road and Grand Boulevard. We hope you can come join the fun!

ROAD CLOSURES MAY IMPACT YOU: Most road closures and detours will be in effect between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please review the enclosed road closures and course map for more information. Residents and businesses located near the course are urged to plan ahead and to be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes.

At 6:30 a.m., police and event personnel will implement a soft closure along the entire course (some traffic maybe able to pass, but drivers should expect to wait while the course is being set up). All streets along the course will fully close at 7:00 a.m. when the race begins. The streets will open on a rolling basis as soon as the runners and walkers have passed (approximately a 16-minute-per-mile pace) and all course support materials have been removed. Get Involved: If you don't plan on running, we'd love to have your help as a volunteer! All volunteers receive a t-shirt and a free BBQ lunch at the race. Please contact the Hospital Hill Run volunteer coordinator at Natalie@hospitalhillrun.com to sign up.

All athletes are asked to respect the community. We ask our runners and walkers to be nice to you and your neighborhood, to only run on the streets and to throw away trash only at specified aid stations. In addition, the Hospital Hill Run crew will do everything to respect the community. We will monitor the volume of the music playing at the start and finish areas and will remove all garbage along the course. We are guests in your community; thank you for hosting us!

Additional Information: Visit the Hospital Hill Run website for course maps, road closures and alternate access routes. If you have additional questions after viewing the website, please e-mail Beth Salinger at beth@hospitalhillrun.com.
