1. Where does the race start? Where does it end?
All three distances, 5K, 10K and half marathon, begin and end on Grand Boulevard right in front of Crown Center.

2. Where does the course go?
The Half Marathon course will showcase downtown Kansas City, including the Sprint Center and the Country Club Plaza. For more detail, view our course map.

3. Is this race hilly?
Of course! It's not called Hospital Hill for nothing. But what goes up must also go down.  It is a challenging course, loaded with beautiful scenery and fun spectators along the way.  View our elevation map for further detail.

4. Do I have to register online?
No. You can register online, by mail or possibly during packet pickup IF open spots remain available at packet pickup. There is no race day registration.

Please note that the 2009 Hospital Hill Run race sold out and there was no race weekend registration available. For guaranteed entry, please register online or by mail as early as possible. The home page will have up-to-date information regarding registration and availability.

5.  Where and when is packet pickup?
All participants will need to pick up their bib numbers, timing devices and event t-shirts at the Hospital Hill Run health and fitness expo. The expo will take place on Thursday May 31st  from 3pm – 7pm and Friday June 1st from 11am – 9pm, the expo will take place at the Crown Center Exhibition Center (located next to the Sheraton Crown Center).     

Please note there is no race day registration or packet pickup.

6. Where do I park on race day?
Free covered parking is available in the Crown Center parking garages. No validation stamp is needed on Saturday. 

7. After I register can I switch race distances?
Yes. Please email race director Beth Salinger at to make any registration changes.

8. What if my name is spelled wrong, my age is wrong, etc.?
No problem. Just email and she will make the necessary changes to your registration.

9. Can I use my own ChampionChip?
No. Hospital Hill Run does not use ChampionChip timing devices. We use the D-Tag disposable timing system.

10. I registered but can’t participate; can I still pick up my t-shirt?
Yes. Please stop by and pick up your bib, t-shirt and goody bag at packet pickup (dates and times above). Shirts and medals will NOT be mailed.

11. I won’t be able to participate. Can I transfer my registration to next year or give it to a friend?
No. We are sorry, but we do not allow you to transfer your registration for next year or transfer registration to another person.

12. I have a friend who would like to volunteer. Can he help?
Yes! Please email for more information.

13. Can a friend or family member pick up my packet?
Yes. The person picking up your packet must have your bib number when they come to packet pickup.
