New this year is the Saucony Team Challenge, bringing running clubs from all over the country to challenge one another on one of the toughest courses around.
Divisions and Scoring In conjunction with the Hospital Hill Run Half Marathon, clubs will compete in two separate divisions—men’s and women’s—and can enter a maximum of five runners per team, but must enter a minimum of three runners. In the both divisions, the times of the three fastest finishers will count toward team scoring. The teams with the lowest combined finish times among their scoring runners will be declared the winning teams. Clock time (gun time) will be the official recorded time for all Saucony Team Challenge participants.
Awards and Prize Money
A trophy will be presented to the overall Saucony Team Challenge champions, and prize money will be awarded to the top three men’s and women’s teams as follows.
1st $2,500
2nd $1,000
3rd $750
*Prize money will be paid to the club/organization.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Eligibility for the Saucony Team Challenge is based on USATF club competition rules:
Only teams consisting of duly accredited representatives of a member club shall be eligible to score as a team.
All athletes entering as part of a club must be affiliated with that club as part of their USATF membership (an athlete's current affiliation can be viewed in his/her USATF membership profile) and meet the requirements of USATF Competition Rule 4. Athletes wishing to change affiliations can make such a request through their local association (note that this request must be made by the athlete; see Regulation 7 in the USATF Governance Manual, Section III).
The formation of club teams must meet all of the parameters as noted in Regulations 7 and 8 in the USATF Governance Manual, Section III and the USATF Rules of Competition, specifically Rule 4. This will be strictly enforced. Please note that in Long Distance Running, an athlete who is a non-resident member of an Association is eligible to compete for a team in that Association only if the athlete: (a) resides in an adjoining Association and the Association of residence does not offer the program, or (b) neither the Association of residence nor any Association adjoining the Association of residence offers the program. Note: An athlete with historical membership (at least 3 continuous USATF membership years) in a club is eligible to compete for that club.
All participating clubs must be registered with USATF for 2010, and all athletes entering as part of a club must be affiliated with that club as part of their current USATF membership. For questions regarding USATF membership or to purchase/re-new a membership, please visit usatf.org or contact your local USATF association.
